2 Corinthians 5:7

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”

A monologue with yourself can be pretty dangerous. You have the ability to talk yourself in and out of things quicker than anyone else. Actually, as you are reading this, there might be a decision you are praying about, a career change the Lord has placed on your heart, a prayer you need answered and you are discussing this matter with yourself daily. Sometimes people think they do not know how to hear God’s voice- but the truth is they cannot hear God’s voice because they are the one doing all the talking!

God wants to speak to you. However, when He speaks He does so in such a way that the entire picture might not be known all at once. Yikes! Does it stress you out to hear from God but not get every part of the plan? You are not alone, but don’t get stuck. There are things, great things, the Holy Spirit has for you which will require faith. All the pieces might not be seen but He is leading you into a decision. Who is doing the talking?

Who is talking will determine how you are walking. When you walk by faith and not by sight there is an element of risk. Not risk for risk’s sake, but risk for trust’s sake. See God wants you to trust in Him more than you trust in yourself. If every decision and step we take is for comfort and security we might be doing a lot of self-talk causing us to walk into situations where faith is not required. God has a great adventure for you in Jesus. A life with Jesus, stepping into the unknown, being led by the Spirit is not boring Christianity.

People have been led by God to other countries, other business, new levels of faith giving. This is a place where faith is required, and God’s voice is necessary. You want to hear God more? Stop talking and start walking by faith and not by sight. He has greater things for you!
