Day 2 - Tuesday, January 10, 2023

Proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Ice Skating is fun for a lot of reasons, but one is how humble it can make someone who does not ice skate frequently. Watching people who are confident in their abilities take the ice for the first time is pure entertainment. They step on the ice with the belief, “anyone can do this” and a couple of falls later they are staying as close to the wall as possible!

Why are they hugging the wall? Stability and assurance. They no longer have any confidence in their own ability so they are using the wall to provide a security measure which will keep them upright and from meeting the cold ice one more time. Life and ice skating have a lot in common.

When we lean on our own understanding with all the confidence in the world, we leave no room in our life for God’s direction and stability. We set ourselves up for a similar outcome as a first time Ice Skater to have fall after fall. It is easy to take each day, circumstance, year, problem, or pressure with an “anyone can do this” mentality. However, there are variables that our own strength and understanding will never take into consideration. What if there is a better way to have less falls and more stability? Trust! Don’t Lean.

Trusting God will bring more victory in 2023. Trusting God will lessen the hard falls and bring more stability. Trusting God will open you up to see God move you into Greater Things! What areas are you leaning on your own strength?
